Industrial collaborations with UMIACS take many forms, including cash donations, gifts of software and hardware, research projects funded directly by industry, and joint projects between UMIACS and industry funded by government agencies. Our Industrial Affiliates Program is structured to give maximum flexibility for organizing collaborations between the UMIACS faculty and industry. Current joint projects include:

CERI
  The Collaborative Education and Research Initiative is an NSF-funded partnership between the Department of Computer Science at Bowie State University (BSU) and UMIACS/Computer Science at Maryland whose main goal is to foster collaborations between the two groups on several research and educational programs.
   
  ESIP Federation
  The University of Maryland GLCF is a member of the Federation of Earth Science Information Partnerships (ESIPs) funded by NASA and whose main goal is to develop innovative data products and information services to the national user community.The University of Maryland GLCF is a member of the Federation of Earth Science Information Partnerships (ESIPs) supported by NASA.
   
  IBM
  The University of Maryland has developed a partnership with IBM based on collaborations on research projects funded by the IBM Shared University Research program and the campus.
   
  LTS
  The University of Maryland partnership with the Laboratory for Telecommunications Science (LTS) aims at establishing a major center of activity between DoD, industry, and academia focusing on advanced research in networking.
   
  NPACI
  The University of Maryland is a major partner of the National Partnership for Advanced Computational Infrastructure (NPACI) led by the San Diego Supercomputer Center.
